Princess or Prince's Feather

I have seen this pattern called by both of the above names. The book I found it in called it Princess Feather. I later found an article saying that its proper name was Prince’s Feather because it was modeled after the feather worn in the cap of the Prince of Wales. I have no idea which name is correct. It is hand appliqued and machine quilted. The quilt is also trapuntoed, with each yellow circle and each pink grape all individually stuffed with batting. I spent many happy afternoons in the summer on the front porch or back patio hand sewing the pieces to the background fabric. With the weight of quilts, I now find it easier for me to machine quilt them.

It’s one of a number of quilts which I’ve made in an effort stretching back from the mid-1980s to today.

Wow that is beautiful – Never had a go at quilting but this has made me want to – if only there were a few more hours in the day!
